The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) — a leading scientific nonprofit organization that sets quality standards for medicines, food ingredients, and dietary supplements globally — is hiring for the role of Associate Scientific Editor in their Publications Division.
🔍 Position Overview:
This is a dynamic, non-supervisory position responsible for high-quality editorial and production tasks related to USP’s documentary standards. The Associate Scientific Editor ensures clarity, structure, accuracy, and style consistency across scientific publications. Working collaboratively with scientific experts, this role supports editorial review, proofreading, XML content management, and internal publishing systems support.
💼 Key Responsibilities:
- Edit scientific content across USP publications, ensuring editorial excellence and adherence to USP style.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to maintain scientific intent, accuracy, and clarity.
- Proofread, apply XML tagging, and review documents for syntax, grammar, and consistency.
- Ensure quality and readability of content before transitioning to production stages.
- Support content management, process documentation updates, and coordination across teams.
- Participate in system-wide editorial workflows and continuous improvement initiatives.
🎓 Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or Life Sciences, or equivalent experience.
- 0–2 years of experience in book/journal editing and proofreading, particularly in electronic formats.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and XML/HTML editing tools.
- Strong grasp of grammar, syntax, in-house style guides, and scientific communication principles.
- Experience with content management systems, MS Teams, SharePoint, and virtual collaboration tools.
